Doru Pop is a professor at the Faculty of Theatre and Film, Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj. He earned a Master’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the University of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 2002, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Babeș-Bolyai University in 2003, with a thesis on the philosophy of visual culture. He was a Fulbright and Ron Brown scholar in 1995-1996 and 2000, respectively, and taught Romanian and European film courses at Bard College in New York in 2012 and served as a visiting professor at Columbus State University, Georgia in 2017. His latest book is “Romanian New Wave Cinema” (McFarland, 2014).
