Florin Țolaș specializes in film and television cinematography, where he has been active for
over 35 years, and since 2011, he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Theater and Film,
Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca.
He holds a PhD in Cinematography and Media from the National University of Theatre and
Film Arts in Bucharest, with a thesis on “The Specifics of Film and Television
Cinematography”
He has collaborated as director of photography on numerous fiction and documentary
films at Romania Film (Buftea) and Media Pro Studios as well as the national TV
broadcasters TVR, PROTV, Antena 1, and Digi24, producing films and television series
(national and international productions).
At TVR, he also collaborated as a screenwriter and director on the television series
“Abracadabra,” with which he participated in numerous international and national festivals
(Bratislava, Chicago, Lisbon, Munich, Plovdiv, Costinești, Bucharest), several of which
received international awards.
He worked as a lighting designer for shows at the “L.S. Bulandra” theater, as well as for
audiovisual projects such as “Milenium 2000,” “A la recherche du Brancusi,” and Live Show.
He is the author and co-author of articles, books, and specialized manuals.
He has been a member of the Romanian Filmmakers Union since 1987. He graduated from
UNATC, Bucharest (1985), Department of Film and Cinematography
